OVERVIEWThe Serial?Parallel Converter V plugs directly into the DB9 serial port of a computer. The converter''s other side connects to a parallel printer via an integral Centronics® or DB25 cable.It operates at serial data rates up to 38.4 kbps, and it receives its power from the RS-232 interface.The Serial?Parallel Converter V automatically detects whether the interface is serial or parallel. It then orients itself for serial-to-parallel or parallel-to-serial conversion. Other parameters-speed, flow-control method, parity, and word length-are set by externally accessible DIP switches.A single LED indicator monitors five modes including link status. Two models with integral 6-foot (1.8-m) cables are available. One model connects a DB9 female interface to a Centronics male interface, and the other connects a DB9 female interface to a DB25 male interface.
