What is an Alert Box?
An alert box, or message box, is warning message that pops up on your screen telling you that your computer is about to perform a potentially damaging operation. A similar alert box is generated when you are about to delete file, saying "Are you sure you want to permanently remove this item?" The Alert box gives you one final opportunity to opt out of the deletion.
The most common alert box is one that has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in the middle. The bright yellow color is supposed to attract your attention. I think the greatest tool for a word processing program is the "Would you like to save your data before closing?" Reminding you to save your hard work before closing the program and losing your data to the cyber world forever!
