What's is an ASP?

An ASP (Application service provider) is remote software that you access through the internet via a web browser.  Instead of downloading a large program onto your hard drive, you simply use an ASP software directly online.  You never will actually own the software, but you can use it for a fee.  Also known as Software as a Service (SaaS)  Also see "cloud computing". 

Examples of ASP's are: Yahoo Mail, Google Spreadsheets, Google Docs, Hotmail etc.
