How can I swap out a damaged keyboard on the HP Envy 17 17-J? I spilled some coffee on the keyboard and some of the keys no longer work. (and a bit sticky...lol) I haven't been able to find a How To guide online. I would appreciate a guide or specific instructions.

Hi Jim. The Keyboard on the HP Envy 17 17-j is not a "remove 4 screws lift up from the bottom and pull off" type of keyboard. I'm not sure WHAT the engineers were thinking with this one. This is definitely not a "Customer" removal type of job. In a nutshell...the bottom cover has to be removed. Then the DVD drive, the Hard Drives need to come out. Disconnect many cables. And then after a few more modules...the Motherboard MUST be removed! Who would have ever thought that a motherboard removal was a prerequisite for a keyboard removal??
Check out the HP Envy 17 Maintenance Manual here: http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02160120.pdf If you are up for a challenge. If not let us do it for you.
