TYAN S5620 Motherboard OverviewTYAN''s S5620 is a single-socket Xeon E5-2600 v3/v4 motherboard that packs large computational power into a small package. Supporting up to 22 cores and 44 threads in an ATX form factor, the S5620 is perfect for applications that benefit from the high core count of the Xeon E5 but do not scale well across multiple CPU sockets. With support for up to 18 SATA devices without needing to add an expansion card, the S5620 also performs well in heavily virtualized environments that need a large number of local storage devices to share across a large number of virtual machines. The large disk port count also lends the motherboard to support distributed database applications such as Apache Cassandra and Hadoop HDFS which require a large amount of local storage distributed across commodity hardware.Expansion and I/OThe S5620 has a number of expansion slots to tap into the Xeon E5''s vast PCIe root complex. The big Xeon''s 40 PCIe lanes are distributed across a PCIe x16 slot, an OCP x8 LAN Mezzanine slot, an optional LSI SAS2308 controller, and an optional pair of SFF-8643 ''HD-MiniSAS'' ports which are wired to each deliver x4 PCIe lanes for NVMe devices. The PCIe x16 slot is positioned to allow the use of a full-height / full-length PCIe x16 card in a 1U chassis, assuming the chassis has been designed with enough depth for the full length card.Networking OptionsThere are two different configurations for LAN ports on the S5620 motherboard. The S5620WGM4NRE features (4) 1000Base-T Ethernet ports, while the S5620WGM2NR, S5620GM2NR, and S5620GM2NRE SKUs feature (2) 1000Base-T Ethernet ports. All S5620 motherboard SKUs feature an OCP LAN Mezzanine to support a variety of 1000Base-T and 10GBase-T single and dual-port options in both RJ45 and SFP+ configurations.View Tyan LAN Mezzanine Cards here!Storage OptionsAll versions of the S5620 motherboard feature 10 onboard SATA ports with support for Intel RSTe RAID levels 0/1/10/5. The S5620WGM4NRE and S5620WGM2NR SKUs add an onboard LSI SAS2308 IOC which adds 8 additional 6Gb/s SAS ports, all of which are backwards compatible with SATA devices. The S5620WGM4NRE and S5620GM2NRE SKUs feature a pair of PCIe x4 ports routed through SFF-8643 ''HD-MiniSAS'' connectors and are intended to add support for use with NVMe devices without needing to add a riser card.Server ManagementTYAN''s S5620 includes enterprise grade server management via an onboard AST2400 BMC with IPMI 2.0 and a shared IPMI network port. Complete with an HTML based web management portal and Java based Keyboard-Video-Mouse (KVM) redirection, IPMI allows for both the remote viewing of critical system sensors and for complete remote control of the system to be handed to remote support personnel in times of need. Management features such as IPMI help your business lower the TCO of the system by reducing the amount of time and effort expenditure needed by support technicians. Access to the BMC is provided over a shared LAN port.
