TYAN''s s7070 is a versatile Dual-Socket Xeon E5-2600 v3/v4 platform that can be configured to suit the needs of both server and workstation applications. Workstation variants of the s7070 motherboard include 7.1 Channel HD Audio and are designed to take on the needs of visual rendering and image manipulation workloads when paired with GPGPU acceleration cards. Server versions of the motherboard feature onboard graphics and IPMI for general purpose server applications. An optional 6Gb/s LSI SAS controller adds onboard support for enterprise-grade storage devices. Expansion and I/OThe S7070 supports up to five PCIe Gen 3.0 expansion cards, featuring (3) PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slots and a (2) PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 slots. For the S7070A2NR-B, S7070WA2NR, and S7070A2NR-M2 SKUs allow audio through a Realtek ALC892 chipset. The motherboard also features a (2) USB 3.0 ports on the rear of the motherboard and another (2) USB 3.0 ports available via an internal header. A COM port is available via an internal header. Storage OptionsThe S7070 features support for Intel''s Rapid Storage Technology. Intel RST resides on the system PCH and enables the use of RAID through the onboard SATA ports, without the cost of purchasing or deploying a dedicated RAID card and without the consumption of a PCIe slot. With driver support for both Windows and Linux operating systems, Intel RST allows IT administrators to greatly reduce the overall system costs incurred when using a hardware RAID solutions. All versions of the S7070 feature (10) SATA ports through the Intel C612 PCH and support RAID 0/1/5/10. The S7070WGM2NR and S7070WA2NR SKUs add an onboard LSI SAS2308 IOC which adds (8) additional SAS ports, all of which are backwards compatible with SATA devices. The S7070A2NR-M2 SKU has (1) M.2 SATA connector. Server ManagementTYAN''s S7070WGM2NR and S7070GM2NR SKUs include enterprise grade server management via an onboard AST2400 BMC with IPMI 2.0 and a shared IPMI network port. Complete with an HTML based web management portal and Java based Keyboard-Video-Mouse (KVM) redirection, IPMI allows for both the remote viewing of critical system sensors and for complete remote control of the system to be handed to remote support personnel in times of need. Management features such as IPMI help your business lower the TCO of the system by reducing the amount of time and effort expenditure needed by support technicians.
